Put one small reference mark on the cap and a second, aligned mark on the fixed bottle neck or body before vibration. Photograph the marks and the cap seating position without moving the assembly. After the test, check the marks before touching the cap. A shift in the opening direction is direct evidence of relative rotation if both marks stayed fixed to their respective parts. On a package with a decorative shell over an inner closure, first establish which piece is actually threaded onto the neck. A shell that slips can move the visible mark while the threaded closure stays in place.
Separate three measurements
Record application torque when closing, angular position before and after exposure, and removal torque when opening. Use matched unshaken controls held for the same time and at the same temperature. A drop in removal torque without an angular shift may reflect relaxation or another change in the assembly. A changed skirt gap may help you choose where to investigate, but the visible gap also depends on the package design and the original seating position.
Keep the leak check separate
Photograph residue before wiping or opening. Record where the formula appears and compare against filled controls in the same orientation. The seal may be made by a liner, a plug, or another feature, so residue near the thread does not identify its route. Compare the angular, torque, and leakage findings together. If the cap rotated while the package stayed dry, record both facts rather than treating either as a substitute for the other.
