A click is a sound created during movement. It may occur when a flexible latch passes an edge and rebounds, even if the hook overlaps the mating feature only slightly. The sound can confirm that something moved, but it does not show how much engagement remains once the lid is seated.

Observe the closed geometry
Compare the latch and mating feature against the drawing or an approved sample. Check whether the lid reaches its intended position and whether the hook sits behind the mating edge. Where direct viewing is difficult, agree on a sectioned sample, a suitable fixture or another method that reveals the overlap. Check for changes from hinge play, a poorly seated insert or another part obstructing closure.
Measure retention on the actual assembly
Close production representative units normally and compare opening or retention results with the agreed test method. Check the same points after any specified cycling or storage. A louder click can accompany a stiffer part without improving engagement. Record the observed overlap, closure condition and functional result separately.
