Changing a cushion compact coating can affect more than its appearance. Where a finish reaches a guide, pivot or closure contact, the finished geometry and friction may differ from the uncoated part. Compare the intended finished assembly with a documented reference before approving the change.
Locate the surfaces that control movement
Use the actual construction to identify the button guides, hinge contacts and closure features. A pin hinge, a flexible hinge and a separate linkage require different reviews. Do not add an assumed mechanism simply because another compact uses it.
Mark where coating is intended and where the design requires a surface to remain uncoated. Link that information to the part and finish revisions. Masking is a process choice for specified areas; not every functional surface necessarily has the same requirement.

Compare coating coverage with the drawing
Inspect the relevant areas for unintended coverage, bridges or deposits at edges and recesses. A thickness measurement on a broad exterior face does not establish the clearance at a small contact. Use measurements appropriate to the feature and material, with the finishing and packaging teams agreeing the method.
Compare identifiable parts and assemblies made for the proposed finish. Record whether the comparison uses the same component revisions, material and tooling. An uncoated-versus-coated difference is a useful lead, but it does not by itself prove that coating thickness caused the change.
Check each movement separately
Observe button depression, latch release and button return. Check that the button moves through its intended travel without sticking. Then follow the lid through its usable arc, noting localized resistance, rubbing or finish transfer. Review hinge seating where the actual design has a separate pin.
Finally, close the compact to its intended position and check the specified engagement and release. Do not force a stiff assembly shut or scrape a contact until it works and then call the finish approved. Those actions can hide the condition that needs investigation.
Confirm the final configuration
Use an agreed repeated-operation routine and inspect the moving contacts afterward. Keep any inner reservoir closure evaluation separate from the outer case movement check. Smooth button operation does not establish the inner seal’s performance.
Record the accepted coverage, finish and assembly versions, including any revised masking or dimensional requirement. Verify representative finished parts after a process change.
