A pointed eyeliner tip is a starting geometry, not a guarantee of a fine line. The line also depends on the formula, the amount available at the tip, its angle and the pressure used during the stroke.

      Compare contact before comparing labels

Observe the part of each tip that touches the test surface. A narrow point can make a small initial contact, while tilting or pressing the applicator can bring a wider area into contact. Compare short strokes, longer strokes and the tapered end of a stroke using the same routine.

Names such as felt tip and brush tip do not establish a fixed stiffness or line-width ranking. Tip length, support and detailed construction differ within those families. GEKA’s precisionLINER is one manufacturer example of arranging bristle lengths for line definition; it does not establish the behavior of every brush applicator or a Sambound component.

Watch the tip while pressure changes

Evaluate how the point bends, spreads and returns after release. A tip that feels soft may respond differently depending on its unsupported length and mounting. Neither softness nor firmness alone proves better control for the intended user.

Use a repeatable range of handling conditions. Keep stroke direction, speed, angle and test surface consistent when comparing tips, then vary one condition deliberately. Measure force if the project needs an instrumented comparison; do not assign a universal force from an informal hand demonstration.

Keep tip mechanics separate from liquid delivery

A dip-in eyeliner obtains its load when the applicator is withdrawn from the bottle. An integrated pen feeds liquid through its own internal arrangement. Evaluate each in its confirmed format rather than assuming both use a bottle wiper.

With the intended formula, record line continuity, edge definition and whether output changes during repeated strokes. Increasing pressure may change contact area, but it does not prove that formula output increases in a fixed proportion. A dry-looking line can involve loading or feeding as well as tip geometry.

Approve the combination that was tested

Identify the tip, mounting, delivery system and formula used for the comparison. Repeat relevant checks after a component change or agreed storage interval. Finished-cosmetic claims such as waterproof wear do not follow from an empty applicator test.

SamBound New Material Technology Company Ltd. supplies empty packaging, with product references at sambound.com. The fine-line specification should remain tied to the tested applicator assembly rather than its exterior photograph.
