A mascara wiper can remove excess formula while still moving out of its intended seat. Wiping and retention therefore need separate observations when a wiper changes. GEKA’s published wiper information likewise distinguishes product-load control from retention in the bottle; it is an industry example, not a performance claim for a Sambound component.

      Separate the two interfaces

One interface is between the wiper and the passing stem or brush. The other holds the wiper in the bottle neck. Changing the wiping opening can alter the load encountered during withdrawal without confirming that the neck connection can retain the wiper.

Identify the actual neck, wiper and applicator versions before comparing samples. Record the installation method and the wiper’s seated position against a defined reference. Do not infer its retention feature or material from an exterior photograph.

Watch what moves during the pull

Use the intended brush, stem and formula with an agreed insertion and withdrawal routine. Observe whether the wiper lifts, tilts or moves when the widest part of the applicator passes. Check its position after withdrawal as well as during the motion: a component can move and then settle back.

Record wiping results separately, including product on the stem and brush. An acceptable brush load does not cancel a retention concern. Equally, a securely seated wiper does not establish suitable wiping or formula compatibility.

Do not confuse use force with pull-out strength

The force needed to withdraw the applicator is different from a test that deliberately pulls the wiper out of the neck. If retention is measured destructively, compare appropriately matched fresh and conditioned samples; the same specimen cannot provide an undamaged baseline after being pulled apart.

Agree the fixture, pull direction, speed, conditioning and acceptance limits for that assembly. Do not invent a universal force or cycle count. If temperature or formula exposure is investigated, measure the resulting change rather than assuming that expansion always loosens the fit.

Sambound’s empty packaging range is described at sambound.com. Approval should identify the tested bottle, wiper, stem and brush combination, with retention and wiping recorded separately. A smaller capacity does not automatically mean tighter tolerances or weaker retention.
